ERR European Rail Rent GmbH was founded in 2006 by Rainer Baumgarten, Gernot Schwayer, Jürgen Bauer and Rainer Kunze.
Rainer Baumgarten and Gernot Schwayer were the founders and owners of KVG Kesselwagen Vermietgesellschaft [Tank Wagon Hire Company], which is now GATX Rail Europe.
Rainer Kunze was managing director and a shareholder of On Rail Gesellschaft für Eisenbahnausrüstung und Zubehör. [Company for Railway Equipment and Accessories]
Jürgen Bauer was in various managerial positions for the leading American wagon hire company GATX. Most recently, he was chairman of the GATX Rail Germany executive board.
The ERR operative team have long-standing experience in leasing, managing, constructing, reconstructing and financing freight wagons.
Management of ERR is assumed by Mr Rainer Kunze and Mr Jürgen Bauer.
Since November 2016, two thirds of ERR have been owned by the managing directors and one third by Aves One AG.
ERR is convinced that rails will play an important role in the future of European freight transport. Modern material which fulfils the transport requirements is an important success factor for the liberalised train market.
ERR views itself as a customer-focused company, committed to quick and competent service.
There are currently more than 4,000 of the most varied types of freight wagons being managed by ERR.
In the future, ERR and their partners intend to continue investing considerably in freight wagons.
